Biography of paintress

malířka Dagmar Zemánková

She was born on 5. 4. 1967 in Libina. Not only her father paints, but he also plays the piano and the accordion and takes photos. It was just him who has discovered and then supported the talent of his daughter.Work of Dagmar Zemánková grows from the tradition of realism in the Czech landscape painting. She inspires especially with Českomoravská vysočina (the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands) and landscape of the South Bohemia and the Jeseniky Mountains.
In her paintings she is looking for the moments when the nature starts awaking in the morning. Just then she is trying to catch the short spell of light change. It is similar also at dusk when weird peace is stretching in her pictures. The enjoyment from painting is joy of life for her at the same time, joy of its ordinary values and beauties. Whether she sits herself with her palette or a book of sketches, she always sinks into the scenery deep with her heart.

During one of the solo exhibitions in the gallery Mathias in historical premises of newly refurbished monastery of St. Voršila the paintress was appreciated by a painter Josef Minařík with these words:

The paintress belongs to sensitive authors and her paintings represent the voice of her soul. Her pictures with their tenderness and humility remind us of Art Romantism. Especially changes of seasons of the year together  with  poetic  landscape  architecture  are  concerned. In  her pictures  she  attends  to details and things that can ordinary man elude these days: themes of ordinary landscape, ordinary cart-road, a lakelet, evening  sunsets, moonrise, edges of  fields  and  slades. As  a  whole  it  forms  pure  and romantic landscape of Moravia and Bohemia, that completes the whole atmosphere.  Paintings of Dagmar Zemánková fascinate us with their distinctive language and they are created for people  with  open heart, which is very close to me and pleasant for me.“
